Moving from Early Years to Year 1 can be quite a daunting prospect but at Beckstone, we work very closely with our KS1 team and ensure children are given many opportunities to meet their new staff team and spend time investigating their new environment. In the summer term we hold 6 transition sessions. The KS1 teachers come and read stories and play with the Reception children in the Early Years environment. Later on, the children then go and spend time in KS1 but are supported my members of the Early Years team to ensure they all feel safe and supported. When the children are comfortable in this new environment, they have unaccompanied sessions towards the end of the summer term feeling very grown up and ready to begin year 1 in September safe in the knowledge that they know exactly what to do and where to go.
