Year 3/4 Football Festival

GORGEOUS WEATHER CAN’T OUTSHINE YOUNG FOOTBALLERS

On what was probably the warmest day of the year, eight schools from the area attended the annual year 3 and 4 Football festival at St Joseph’s School. The quality of Football skills on show certainly matched the weather, as each team battled it out over a set of ten minute matches. With goals galore, great saves and fantastic teamwork, coupled with lots of fab sportsmanship, it really was a day to remember as the group stages brought Ashfield, Beckstone, Seaton and St Gregory’s to the semi-finals. The semi-finals proved to be really close with both games going to the wire as Ashfield and Beckstone emerged to contest the final. Again, the final was an intense affair and it took two late goals from Beckstone to get them across the winning line.

Organiser and Sports Development Officer David Wise commented; "What a great advert for Football in the area this was. The skills, sportsmanship and general all-round play was amazing and our year 9 and 10 Referees showed great organisation and maturity. A fab day all round"!
