This week we have been looking at the celebration of bonfire night.
We discussed why we remember the 5th of November, and why we have fireworks and bonfires.
We have been upskilling our fine motor skills by making firework biscuits, we had to use pipettes to drop food colouring onto our biscuits then draw it out into a firework explosion by using cocktail sticks. Also rolling by creating chocolate finger sparklers dipped in sprinkles.
We have practiced our joining skills by binding streams of tissue paper to sticks to make sparklers.
We have learnt and practiced the skill of smudging and blending using chalks and pastels (please see displays in the classroom). We even created new colours by mixing chalks together!
Some of us tried the super challenge of pouring, using really tiny spouts, to make water pass down the plastic pipes.
We have used our phonics and gruesome finger spacers to write our first statements and even visited three land in which we learned about grouping 3 objects together.
As you can see it has been a busy but awesomely fun week! We have loved it.
Please note we discussed Remembrance Sunday as part of our philosophy work and we sincerely hope you enjoy the discussions with your children as much as we did.
