During the time of the Ancient Celts, both men and women wore brooches. They wore them as a cloak fastener on one or sometimes both shoulders. They were made of gold, silver, iron or bronze and covered in intricate patterns and precious gem stones.
We looked at artefacts and images of Celtic brooches and practised making intricate patterns out of string. It was tricky but we persevered. First we decided on our design and then we glued the string carefully onto stiff card.
Then we left the glue to dry.
We painted our brooches in the colour of our choice.
Finally we added jewels to our brooches.
We think our brooches look amazing.
