Smartie Fractions

This week we have been learning about fractions.

Today the children took part in a fractions challenge where they had to count the total number of Smarties in a mini box.

Then the children had to sort the Smarties into colours and record what fraction of their sweets was each colour.

We talked about how the numerator showed the number of Smarties in that colour, while the denominator showed how many Smarties there were in total.

It was interesting to compare different results (and tasty too!).
