Fly, Eagle, Fly

Linking to our studies of Kenyan we have read the traditional African tale Fly Eagle Fly by Christopher Gregorowski.

First, we learned the story, by listening to Mrs. Finlay reading it, reading it to each other and then by signing the story using Makaton signs as we read.

Then we drew story maps to help us retell the story.

We read the story to our friends using our maps.

Once we had learned the original story we were then able to change parts to begin to write our own versions.

Some of us changed the animals, some the setting and some the characters.

Finally, we were ready to write our own tales.
