Beamish Firstly we explored the town and experienced life in the years leading up to World War One.
We visited the
shops and watched how sweets were made. Some of us sampled a few
sweets too!
Then we watched a steam train depart and played in the fairground.
Next we had a lesson in how to be soldiers from a Sergeant Major! He made us line up and march in time.
Then we explored the early 1900s pit village to find out more about the men who signed up to fight in the war.
After that we
went down the mine!
Finally, we visited the pit village school. At the school we sat on old school benches and wrote on blackboards. I wonder if we would have enjoyed this school as much as Beckstone?
