Growing Cress

After learning about the lifecycles of plants and animals, we decided that we would like to try to grow our own cress plants.

After discussing what a plant needed to live, we put some cotton wool in a plastic cup and made sure it was wet.
Then we spread the cress seeds on the surface.

We also decided to do an experiment!

We planted some seeds on the cotton wool without water, and some with water but without light (in the cupboard).

We made some predictions about whether the cress would grow without either water or light, then we sat back and watched them grow!

We found that the cress without water did not grow at all, but the cress without light seemed to grow very quickly.
However, it did not get as dark as the cress which had both light and water.

Finally we took our cress home to eat! Yum!
