Cyclewise

During the week commencing Monday 2nd February Adam, Nick and Dave came from 'Cyclewise' to teach us how to ride our bikes safely on the road.

Firstly on Monday morning we learned how to put our helmets on correctly and how to check our bikes were safe.

We checked our bikes by carrying out our ABC check, this stands for air, brakes and chain.

After we had put our helmets on and checked our bikes we went outside onto the playground to take our level 1 tests.

We had to ride in and out of cones without wobbling and look behind us to check for traffic.

Finally we had to show that we could ride our bikes with one hand so that we could signal when turning.

Next it was time for the exciting bit! We split into groups and rode our bikes down to the marina.

We had to wear high vis vests so cars could see us.

We learned lots of different things across the week including how to do a U turn and how to signal and turn into junctions.

We had to remember which road position to use and when we needed to signal.

There was a lot to learn but it was lots of fun.

We had an assessment at the end of the week and we will all be getting a badge and certificate in assembly!
