St Mary's Church War Memorial

This term we are learning about the impact of World War Two.

We learned about artist Paul Nash and discussed some of his paintings.

During World War Two he was recruited by the War Artist's Advisory Committee to document pilots and aircrew in paintings.

We thought about other ways that we can remember the war and looked at pictures of the war memorial at St Mary's Church in Harrington.

Unfortunately the weather was too bad to go and visit!

We learned some new painting techniques and created a sketch of the war memorial on A3 paper.

We put one layer of paints on our pictures, then when they were dry we added lots of detail.

The paintings are now on display in our class art gallery!
