The Anglo-Saxons fastened their clothes with brooches made from bronze or silver. They were usually circular and decorated with patterns and precious stones.  We decided to make some jewellery of our own.

First we looked at some photographs of Anglo-Saxon jewellery to make sure we got the patterns and the decorations right.

We decided to make our brooches out of clay. We rolled the clay into a ball and then flattened and smoothed it.

Then we used a circle cutter to get the right shape.

Next, we used sharp tools to make the patterns in the clay.

We waited a few days for the clay to dry and then we painted them and added jewels.
