R.E.

We have been learning about 'belonging' in our RE lessons this term.

Baptism is a way of welcoming people into the family of the church. It shows they belong to a Christian family who believe in Jesus.
It is sometimes called a Christening.

We went via the back path to the church and we were lucky it was a lovely sunny day.

The vicar met us and showed us the Baptism book where the church registers all the people who are baptised.

Boe was the mum and held baby Rosie very carefully throughout the service. Harrison was the proud father.
They sat in the front row with the Godparents. The grandparents sat behind.

Other friends and relatives attended and we all had our smart special clothes on for the occasion.

Next the vicar talked to us about the church candle they light at the font when there is a baptism.

Soon it was time for baby Rosie to be baptised. The parents and Godparents went to stand by the font.

They promised to bring the baby up in the family of the church.

Baby Rosie was given a special baptismal candle. Harrison blew the candle out after the blessing.

Some of us peered into the font to see the holy water!

We found some of our names in the book as we had been baptised at this church.

When we returned to school we celebrated with cakes and juice.

What a fun way to learn about Baptism.
