Role Play

In small groups, we acted out key scenes from the first few chapters of Hugo Cabret. Forum theatre allowed us to zoom in on the characterisation of both Hugo and his Uncle. It challenged our interpretations and inference skills. We focused on character’s tone of voice; how quickly we spoke; our choice of language; character’s movement and position and what that tell us about the characters.

As we performed in front of the class, the rest of our classmates acted as “directors” to help sculpt our voice, body language and facial expressions.

We are excited to watch our scenes back tomorrow to help us write our flashback narrative.
