Changing Perspectives
After reading Chapter 1, we put ourselves into the toy makers’ shoes and labelled all the things he did. We created single-clause sentences on our sentence strips. For example: The old man snatched the notebook. To change it from the active voice to the passive voice, in order to change perspective, we identified the subject, verb and object. We cut around our sentence and swapped the subject and object. To finish, we added auxiliary verbs to make the old man the agent of the sentence.
Active voice: The old man snatched the notebook.
Passive voice: The notebook was snatched by the old man.
