Stone Age Houses

As part of our learning about the Stone Age, we have been finding out about hunter gatherers and early farmers.

We learned about the types of houses they lived in.

We also learned about the houses which were discovered at Skara Brae. We used these as inspiration for our own Stone Age houses.

Firstly, we made a house shape out of paper and masking tape. Then we used Modroc plaster to cover the house.

The Modroc was very messy, especially as we had to wet it before we could use it.

It went everywhere! But we were amazed when it dried and was very hard.

After that we painted our model houses with green and grey paint.

Finally, we mixed more green and grey paint with black and white paint to make lighter and darker colours.

We used sponges to add this paint on to our model houses.
