MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON 4 NOVEMBER 2008

 AT BECKSTONE PRIMARY SCHOOL

Minutes of Last Meeting

Since our last meeting work has been completed to move the stage lights to the main school hall. The total cost being £1174 (£924 to move lights and £250 to change the switch). Mr Warbrick is to re-contact the electrician as the lights need repositioned.

Beckstone has been selected as one of 150 winners of the Royal Bank of Scotland Supergrounds Award. The prize is a cash award of £4000 to transform areas of our School Playground. The first instalment of £1000 will be received shortly. We have already had our first meeting with the Supergrounds Advisor and a second meeting is to be held on 19th November to discuss development of the foundation stage play area.

The Halloween Day was very successful being enjoyed by all children, some of whom have not been able to attend any of the evening disco's held in previous years. We also made a profit of £65!


Treasurers Report

The PTA Account balance is currently £5365 having received interest of £58 and a gift aid refund of £411.61.

The NCPT Annual Subscription is now due, PTA members were happy for Mrs Hardy to arrange a direct debit payment as this would reduce the cost by £10 to £85.

The Halloween Day was very successful generating a £65 profit (£190 entrance fee generated with cost of disco and drinks deducted £50 and £74 respectively).


School Fair

Our Christmas Fair is to be held on Friday 5th December from 2pm to 3.30pm. Stalls to be set up on the morning of the Fair.

Graham & Bowness have donated a brand new Renault Megane Hatch for a weekend loan from Friday Afternoon to Monday Morning complete with a full tank of petrol as a prize. The car will be displayed at the Christmas Fair and will hopefully boost ticket sales! Mr Warbrick is to organize publicity in the Times and Star.

Attractions to include:

Nail Bar - Mr Warbrick to ask Hayley if she would be willing to donate her time and expertise if we pay for equipment.

Guess the Reindeer & Advent Calendar - Miss Ollett

Guess the Bears Birthday - Mrs Clark to purchase this and another bear for Children's Raffle.

Make your own bracelet - Mrs Potts

Face Painting - Jennifer Taylor & Joanne Blaney (possibly Matthew Hall's mum ?)

Santa's Grotto - Santa Happy to oblige also on Christmas Dinner Day!
(£1.50 to include paper photo and selection box).

Cake Stall - children to donate

Refreshments - Tea or Coffee & biscuit - 50p
Crisps 10p, soft drinks 20p (Mrs Askew & Mrs Hardy)

Main Hall:

Bag Stall - each child to be given a plastic bag to fill with unwanted toys a week before the Fair. To be sold at £1 each.

Mrs Finnegan to purchase 5 boxes of crisps, 300 cup drinks, bottle of squash , jar of lollies and biscuits.

Mrs Askew to purchase 6 pints of semi skimmed milk.

Mr Warbrick to arrange bags for bag stall and to request donations for raffle prizes, hampers and cake stall.


Fund Raising and Expenditure

The PTA discussed holding a table top style Christmas Clearout Sale in Spring. Charge per table £5. There would be an entrance fee and refreshments on sale. Proceeds from table sales to sellers.

Year 3&4 have made a request for a donation of £300 to purchase Christmas Play Costumes to include Mary, Joseph, 8 x Angel/Star and 14 Tabards. The PTA were happy to agree to this.

Year 6 have made a request for funding towards a Cooker and kitchen utensils to be used in Year 6/Rainbow Rooms. The PTA were happy to agree to a donation of £100 towards utensils and the cost of a cooker is to be obtained. Various members are to seek discount/donations re the Cooker.
