Painting is the skill base for our Art work for the whole school this term and our class have been looking at the artist Chris Offili.

As we are also entering a 'Face Britain' competition early next year which looks at children's art work on 'Faces' we decided to kill 'two birds with one stone' as the expression goes!

The children actually sketched a face looking carefully at proportions and then used the techniques of Chris Offili where he paints and layers over with tissue paper or cellophane then applies lines of dots. We think they look very effective.

The children were quite taken by the way Chris Offili displays his paintings when in exhibition. He actually mounts them on elephant dung!!
It has some possible connection with his roots in Nigeria.

Here are some we displayed in our classroom (not on elephant dung - we hasten to add!)
